Innovation comes from co-operation

The Times makes an interesting point:
"One of the great myths of innovation is that breakthrough ideas are produced solely by intuitive individuals or by small creative teams working in isolation."
Innovation doesn't happen in isolation. In most cases it's a result of competition or the interaction between a rich and diverse community.
Companies need to embrace technology to help facilitate innovation. Some questions they need to ask themselves:
- Is our intranet an electronic marketplace that brings ideas, capital and talent together?
- Are we using our information technology infrastructure to help "unstick" opportunities and rekindle projects that seem to be going nowhere?
- Does our corporate intranet inspire people to stretch their thinking and then show them how to initiate an innovation project?
